Bryan Felton who had been in St Anne’s Hospital for many years suffering from that dreadful disease Alzheimer’s died on Friday 2nd October 2009. Bryan was a very good table tennis player. In his very early days he practiced at Ellenborough Table Tennis Club. He is in a photograph that is displayed at the club now which is of a group who played there on Sunday mornings in the late 40’s.

His League club was Vicars Moor and he played there in the League in the 50’s and was captain of their first team in the Premier Division. In his team were Peter Pizey and Alan Burnay. They were runners up in the season 58-59. Vicars Moor stopped playing in the league in 62-63.When Winchmore Hill TTC re-entered the League in the season 75-76. Bryan was persuaded to play again and was good enough to win the Cadet Singles cup in the League’s Closed Championships. He played for many seasons but one night after an away match he said to me that he had decided to stop playing for he felt he dare not drive at night anymore.

He was a gentleman on the table and was always a pleasure to have him playing in my team. Our sincere condolences go to his wife Ria and his family.
